Contemporary Landscape

The intention behind this gallery of images was to select views that had very little distractive content in terms of vast landscape vistas but instead stood out by way of their colour and visual impact.

For example, a sole green tree in a field of yellow oilrape against a blue sky with a white cloud draws on just primary colours to evoke a sense of being and even tranquillity.

Similarly, a pink sun setting over a blue sea is all one needs to see to provide a sense of calm as one should normally feel at the end of a day.

I also wanted to show that just colours without much detail can provide enough information to our eyes so that we can visualise the whole scene, as it was when the image was taken.

For that reason I have not included a detailed description of each image, just a short ‘title’ which should provide you with sufficient information to help you understand what I was thinking or feeling when I took each one.

I think this collection of images also shows that simplicity is often a better way to provoke an emotional response than to have look at a ‘busy’ image, full of intricate detail, which often causes the viewer to lose interest in the overall ‘bond’ the photographer was trying to make with them.
